A religious site that has remained unchanged for over 700 years, Swayambhunath is one of the most important Buddhist locations in Nepal, if not the world. With the nickname “Monkey Temple,” you’ll spy sacred monkeys that still live in various parts of the temple. For the best experience, walk around the stupa in a clockwise direction. As you walk, wheels fixed to the balustrade will be set in motion. The evening view from the top of Swayambhunath is breathtaking. You can view the entire sprawling Kathmandu city. As darkness begins to envelop the area, the twinkling lights from every building create their own beauty, offering a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
